Robert Snell, Lawyer
Robert obtained both his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Toronto and was called to the Bar in 1982.
Though initially Robert practiced in all areas of the law, his current practice is restricted to Family Law. Robert is an agent for the Children’s Lawyer, the Family Responsibility Office and the Ministry of Transportation. Robert is a member of the Durham Region Collaborative Practice Association, the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals and the Durham Region Lawyers’ Association.
Sebastian Duff, Lawyer
Sebastian holds a Bachelor of Arts in Justice Studies from Royal Roads University in Victoria, British Columbia and a Bachelor of Laws from Cardiff University in the United Kingdom. Sebastian was called to the Bar of Ontario in 2013. Prior to that, he worked for the leading global reinsurance company in London, England and with a prominent family law lawyer in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Sebastian practices exclusively in the areas of family law and wills/estates. His litigation experience includes property claims, custody/access disputes, and child/spousal support issues. Sebastian frequently attends the Superior Court; however, he is skilled in alternative dispute resolution. He particularly enjoys engaging in negotiations that culminate in a domestic contract. He is a member of the Collaborative Practice Durham Region, the Durham Region Lawyers' Association, and the Advocates' Society. Sebastian also volunteers at Luke’s Place Pro Bono Legal Clinic.
Anthony Balka, Lawyer
Anthony received his Bachelor of Laws from the University of Ottawa in 1990, Magna Cum Laude, and was called to the Bar in 1992. Anthony joined the firm in 1993, initially practicing in the area of family law and criminal law. Anthony is a member of the Durham Region Lawyers' Association.
At present, all of Anthony’s clients are people with psychiatric disorders and 100% of his practice involves representing clients before the Ontario Review Board and the Consent and Capacity Board.
Sandra Scovino, Lawyer
Sandra graduated from the University of Toronto in 1982 with a Bachelor of Arts and completed an Honours Bachelor of Education from the University of Windsor in 1983. She received her Bachelor of Laws from the University of Ottawa in 1987 and was called to the Bar in 1989.
Sandra practices Family Law exclusively and has extensive experience representing the Children's Aid Society, parents and children in child welfare matters. Sandra is also an agent for the Children’s Lawyer. Her primary areas of interest are Child Welfare and Collaborative Law. Sandra is a member of the Durham Region Collaborative Practice Association, the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals and the Durham Region Lawyers' Association. Sandra is the past Secretary of the Durham Region Lawyers’ Association.
Lindsay McKay, Lawyer
Lindsay earned an Honours Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto in 2001 and graduated from the University of Ottawa with a Bachelor of Laws in 2004. She was called to the Bar in 2005. Prior to joining the firm in December 2010, Lindsay worked for Heenan Blaikie in downtown Toronto before practicing as a sole practitioner for two years in Ajax Ontario. Lindsay joined Snell Balka Scovino in 2010.
Lindsay practices exclusively in the area of Family Law. Lindsay is a past Vice-President and Board Member of the YWCA Durham. At present Lindsay is a member of the Durham Region Collaborative Practice Association, the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals, the Durham Region Lawyers’ Association and the Legal Advisory Group for Luke’s Place. Lindsay is also the Legal Director of the Luke’s Place Pro Bono Legal Clinic.
Kyle Wasko, Lawyer
Kyle received an Honours Bachelor of Arts from King's College in 2003 and a Master of Arts from the University of Western Ontario in 2004. He obtained his Juris Doctor from Osgoode Hall Law School in 2009 and was called to the bar in 2010. Kyle practices Family Law, as well as Wills and Estates. He is a member of the Durham Region Lawyers' Association and volunteers at the Luke's Place Pro Bono Legal Clinic.
Linda Manner, Law Clerk
Linda has been with our firm since 1997 when she joined our team as a co-operative education student. Linda is currently the Law Clerk for Sandra Scovino, Lindsay McKay and Sebastian Duff. Linda attends on Rule 39 appearances and has taken several seminars including the Annual Family Law for Law Clerks.
