Obtaining a Divorce

In Canada, divorce is governed by the Divorce Act.

Either one or both spouses can claim a divorce. The grounds to claim a divorce are “marriage breakdown”. The Act sets out how marriage breakdown is established, which is, usually, that the spouses have been separated for at least one year.

We offer a $1,800 plus HST flat fee service for obtaining a Simple Divorce.

You will need your Marriage Certificate to file for a divorce. If you do not have a copy, you can order one through Service Ontario for a small fee ($15 by regular mail).
